Witches can be nice. Giants can be good.

You decide what's right; you decide what's good.

What is Cabaret Theatre?

Cabaret is a form of theatrical entertainment featuring song, dance, drama, and storytelling.  It is an intimate form of live entertainment where the audience often dines or drinks at tables during the show. It is typically witty, interactive, and a less formal atmosphere than traditional theatre. Many cabarets are structured around specific themes or songs, and frequently feature a host to guide the evening.

This year's theme: Heroes and Villains

Atlanta Cabaret Theatre: Summer Lab

Heroes & Villains Summer 2026 | Ages 13–18 | Atlanta, GA

Great stories live in the tension between good and evil — the hero who rises, the villain who steals the scene, and everyone in between who makes us wonder which is which.

Atlanta Cabaret Theatre: Summer Lab is a musical theatre training program for teens ages 13–18, designed for performers who are ready to dig deeper, take risks, and find their own voice on stage. This isn't just camp — it's a real creative laboratory where young artists explore the craft of musical theatre through performance, character work, and collaboration. Whether you're stepping into the spotlight for the first time or sharpening skills you've been building for years, Summer Lab is your stage.

Step into the world of musical theatre's most iconic characters — the brave, the bold, and the deliciously wicked. Our inaugural season explores the theme of Heroes & Villains, diving into the iconic roles, songs, and stories that have defined musical theatre — and challenging students to ask: what makes a hero? What makes a villain? And what does it take to make an audience believe either one?

In our first-ever Summer Lab, teen performers will immerse themselves in the art of character-driven musical theatre. Every student receives a private voice lesson each day with professional vocal faculty — a level of individual attention you won't find at most summer programs. Through scene study, vocal training, movement, and cabaret-style performance, students will explore what it really means to inhabit a role — hero, villain, or somewhere gloriously in between.

What to expect:

    •    Intensive musical theatre training in acting, singing, and movement

    •    A private voice lesson every day with our amazing voice faculty

    •    Deep character exploration through the lens of Heroes & Villains

    •    Ensemble collaboration and individual performance coaching

    •    A culminating cabaret showcase for family and friends

No matter where you are in your training, Summer Lab meets you there — and pushes you further. Come ready to work, play, and surprise yourself.

Atlanta Cabaret Theatre: Summer Lab. Find your character. Own your story.

"Getting to Know You" video

Applicants are asked to submit a short video of introduction.

This video should include 1-2 minutes of the student singing, acting, or a combination of both.

Participants are welcome to submit a longer video if they wish .

The video is NOT AN AUDITION; rather, it is a way for our team to get to know each performer and ensure appropriate song selection and grouping.

Helpful hints:

  • choose material that showcases your personality and strengths
  • musical theatre selections are encouraged but not required
  • recordings using your smartphone are perfect - no professional equipment needed
  • ensure the performer is clearly visible and audible
  • include your name and the name of any selections you are performing

Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.
